In 2018, we planted two high performing strains from the past. Both are known for being high CBD hemp varieties. When we planted our crop of approximately 7,000,000 high CBD industrial hemp plants, we started taking the extra steps necessary to meticulously sort and then preserve only the very best looking CBD hemp seed for sale (check out this video) from this outstanding hybrid.
Because harvest took place just a few months ago in October of 2018, we had to plant and grow the seed before we would have test results. We wanted to take some samples of the plant material early in it’s vegetative state (meaning there are not any buds or flowers on the plant yet) to determine a baseline ratio of CBD:THC.
Typically, this ratio remains the same and we’re able to make predictions of the max CBD % by figuring out the multiplier to bring us to 0.3% THC.
For example, if the veg material sent in for testing came back at .06% THC and 1.5% CBD, that would be a 25:1 ratio of CBD:THC. This would then imply that when the plant increases in cannabinoid potency by 5x, it would reach 0.3% THC, and we could expect CBD levels around 7.5%. Make sense?
Our first round of testing on the veg biomass material (zero buds or flowers) came back in late January at 0.00% THC (undetectable) and 2.72% CBD. These results were verified over three samples across multiple plants. Very exciting to see CBD levels this early on like this with undetectable THC levels!
